Welcome to SmartGrocery ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our SmartGrocery mobile application.
Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the application.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you register and use the app:

🔒 We do NOT collect your bank account details, credit card numbers, UPI credentials, or any payment instrument information.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the SmartGrocery app and its features
- To create and manage your account
- To send push notifications for tasks, bill reminders, and budget alerts (only if you grant permission)
- To enable family expense tracking and sharing features
- To process your subscription through RevenueCat
- To improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
- To respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
- To comply with legal obligations
Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate the app. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage. Firebase Privacy Policy →

- Google Play — App distribution and payment processing. Google Privacy Policy →
- Expo (Notifications) — Push notification delivery service.
📌 We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Firebase Security Rules restricting data access to authenticated users only
- Each user can only access their own data
- No plain-text password storage (Firebase handles authentication securely)
While we implement safeguards, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account through the app:
- Your Firestore data (expenses, shopping lists, tasks, etc.) is deleted immediately
- Your Firebase Authentication account is deleted immediately
- Profile photos and receipt images in Firebase Storage are deleted
- RevenueCat subscription records may be retained as required by law
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — View all your data within the app at any time
- Correction — Update your profile and data through the app
- Deletion — Delete your account and all associated data through Profile → Delete Account
- Portability — Export your expense data using the Export feature (Pro)
- Notification Control — Enable or disable push notifications at any time through device settings
Children's Privacy
SmartGrocery is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete such information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using SmartGrocery ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SmartGrocery. Please read them carefully before using the App.
Description of Service
SmartGrocery is a personal finance and grocery management application that provides:
- Expense tracking and budget management
- Shopping list management with carry-forward functionality
- Task and reminder management
- Family expense tracking
- Khata book for store owners
- Savings goals tracking
- Bill reminder notifications
- Receipt scanning (Pro feature)
- Data export (Pro feature)
User Accounts
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
- One person may not maintain more than one free account
- You must be at least 13 years of age to use this App
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
Subscription & Payments
Free Plan: SmartGrocery offers a free tier with the following limitations:
- Up to 5 pending tasks
- Up to 30 expenses per month
- Up to 10 shopping items
- Up to 5 Khata customers
- Up to 3 bill reminders
- Up to 2 recurring expenses
- Up to 1 savings goal
Pro Subscription:
- Billed monthly through Google Play at the price displayed in the app
- Subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
- You can manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play → Account → Subscriptions
- No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods unless required by law
- Prices are subject to change with advance notice
💳 All payments are processed by Google Play. SmartGrocery does not store your payment information.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use SmartGrocery only for lawful purposes. You must NOT:
- Use the App to track illegal financial activities or money laundering
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or hack the App
- Use the App to store or transmit malicious code
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the App
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App without our permission
- Use the App in any way that could damage or impair its functioning
Intellectual Property
SmartGrocery and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Your data (expenses, shopping lists, etc.) remains your property. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to store and process your data solely to provide the service to you.
Disclaimer of Warranties
SmartGrocery is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation of the App
- Accuracy or reliability of financial calculations or budget suggestions
- Permanent data storage (we recommend regular exports of important data)
📊 SmartGrocery is a personal budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. Do not make major financial decisions based solely on app data.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SmartGrocery shall not be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of data due to device failure, accidental deletion, or service interruption
- Financial decisions made based on information in the App
- Unauthorized access to your account due to your failure to secure your credentials
- Third-party service failures (Firebase, Google Play, RevenueCat, etc.)
Our total liability to you for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 3 months prior to the claim.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you:
- Violate these Terms and Conditions
- Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
- Use the App to facilitate illegal activities
You may terminate your account at any time through Profile → Delete Account. Upon termination, your data will be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
